Michelle Van Reenen

Michelle van Reenen is a South African painter based in Kommetjie, Cape Town, creating original paintings and limited edition prints rooted in colour, memory and intuition. Her work moves across landscape, portraiture and abstraction where colour is her primary language -- not simply as aesthetic choice, but as a way of remembering, processing and revealing experience. She works primarily on MDF offcuts and canvas, through an intuitive process of layering, sanding, erasure and mark-making.
